I've read other books by Ms. Andrews, and the blurb for this one intrigued me, so of course I one-clicked it. And I wasn't disappointed. It was excellent. I could feel Ethan's frustration with hearing people who persistently acted as if he was purposely deaf just to aggravate them, who treated him as if he was stupid because he had to ask them to repeat themselves. (often because they mumbled.)And then there were Michael and Todd, Ethan's fiance and best friend, and to coin a cliche, with people like them in his life, Ethan seriously didn't need enemies. Betrayed by the two men he loved most in the world, Ethan determines to go on his honeymoon to Australia alone. Although it's a scary situation, since he is hard of hearing (and OMG the panic when his hearing aid batteries die and he has no replacements!), he doesn't let that stop him. He even becomes friends with the hot AF driver of the tour bus that takes him and his fellow travelers up the coast of Australia.Clay is an older(in his 40s) man who's left work in the mines in the outback to drive a tour bus after his wife divorces him. Things had always been... well, not great between them, but they'd been good, hadn't they? Apparently not, hence the divorce, but two years later, he was still in no rush to find a woman, even though his twenty-something daughter kept pushing him toward dating websites.Ethan and Clay meet and gradually become friends. When Ethan works up the courage to go snorkeling, he's enthralled to the point he keeps swimming farther and farther away from the boat. This is where I was afraid something was going to go seriously wrong, especially since Ethan keeps worrying about sharks. I should have known Ms. Andrews would keep him safe. :-)When Ethan's Airbnb falls through at the end of his tour, Clay steps forward and invites him to spend the rest of his vacation in Australia at his house. And things just keep getting better and better, with them going from friends to lovers.This was an exceptionally sweet read, and satisfying? Well, I should say, especially with Michael and Todd's dumbfounded reaction at the end. I just hope karma comes back to bite both of them in their asses. While Ethan and Clay grow old and happy together, the bloom will hopefully fade from the rose of Michael and Todd's relationship, which began with lies and cheating.Anyway, definitely a good read. Highly recommended. :-D What a wonderfully woven romance Keira Andrews has given us. American Ethan Robinson, jilted by his boyfriend on their wedding eve, falls apart but maintains some of his 20-something ego by going as a solo on their planned honeymoon to, of all places, Australia.There his tour bus driver, mid-40s Clay Kelly, finally comfortable in his skin after his wife basically abandoned him after more than 20 years of marriage, takes pity on him but also gets to know Ethan a bit more than he might have planned, or in the end, hoped for.This is a leisurely paced love story which seems a bit off the wall in theory but as you go on you are not only convinced of its viability, but mesmerized by the authors lovely language and loving exposition of each man's repressed needs, and unexpected fulfillments.This book has humor and heartbreak, respectful and carnal physical awakening and exploration, and in the end a hoot of an Epilogue which will keep your eyebrow raised, and hopes fulfilled.
